Documentary on nuclear fusion

Nuclear fusion

The sun imparts light and heat to the universe by fusing hydrogen nuclei to form helium. For decades now researchers have been fascinated by the notion of being able to utilise this reaction here on earth as well. The world’s ever diminishing raw materials is spurring numerous institutes around the globe, including Max Planck Institute for Plasma Physics at Garching and Greifswald, to achieve this vision.

The 18-minute documentary illustrates the potential of this form of energy, explains the physical principles, and shows what technical obstacles have to be surmounted on the way to a fusion power plant.
