Magneto-hydrodynamic instabilities, that can develop in tokamak plasma, strongly limit the range of possible plasma parameters. During tokamak operation, these instabilities should be avoided, stabilized, or controlled to ensure stable plasma behavior. Depending on the instability nature and drive, different actuators and actions are required for its stabilization. In this talk, we discuss physics and control of few main MHD instabilities: sawteeth, neoclassical tearing modes, and resistive wall modes.
