This department comprises the following working groups.

Plasma dynamics in linear magnetic field geometry:

The linear plasma generator VINETA
is able to produce a steady state magnetized laboratory plasma. This plasma with comparatively simple cylindric geometry allows for a detailled study of the dynamics of plasma waves and instabilities. Main topics are Alfvén- and Whistler-waves as well as Drift-Alvén waves.
