Current Drive at ASDEX Upgrade
ITER: Negative ion production in RF sources


ICRF

at ASDEX Upgrade:
  • minority heating (hydrogen minority in deuterium plasmas) and harmonic heating (at multiples of the ion cyclotron resonance frequency)
  • investigations of the interaction with the plasma (heating of ions and electrons, influence on profiles, energy confinement, transport, density)
  • comparison with other heating scenarios (NBI, ECRH) at high power density
  • control of the plasma (transport of fast particles, current drive)
  • minimizing the influence of the plasmas on the RF system; goal is a stabile operation, independent on plasma parameters.
  • interaction with the plasma edge
at W7-X:
  • support for the development of steady state components in a dedicated test facility

  • design, execution and analysis of experiments
  • support for the installation of 3dB-coupler
