The "Project Wendelstein 7-X" at the Greifswald branch of IPP is in charge of constructing the Wendelstein 7-X stellarator experiment till commissioning.

This comprises construction of the superconducting stellarator device – i. e. the cryostat with plasma vessel, the superconducting coils, the support structure, the divertor –, the systems for heating the plasma, the supply facilities for the experiment, the machine control system and the diagnostic equipment. Development and testing of prototype components vouch for the technical realization of the challenging machine design.
