Colloquia are held regularly at the Max Planck Institute for Plasma Physics at Garching or at Greifswald. The speaker can be either in Garching, or in Greifswald, while video transmission is organised for the other site.
The topics are often related to our work on fusion research and plasma physics, but they may also address general physics questions. The colloquia are directed to the scientists at our institute, as well as those of several neighboring institutes - follow this link for the list. A preview of coming talks, including abstracts as they become available, can be found in the Internet.
The talks, in German or in English, are generally held on Fridays, starting at 9:00 AM and running for 45-50 minutes, followed by a discussion. A computer controlled projector for electronic presentation is available on both sites, as well as an overhead projector, a slide projector, and upon request a video projector.
In Garching, the location is the main auditorium (172 seats) in Building D2 of our institute. Further information, i.e. a map of the site, is available at the gate.
In Greifswald, the colloquium is held in the seminar room no.1 (approx. 200 seats) in the main building on the second floor.
The speakers are kindly asked to send a title as soon as possible and (no later than 10 days before the scheduled date) an abstract for the announcement, and a curriculum vitae, so that a short introduction can be prepared.
We kindly invite the speakers to provide their viewgraphs in digital form (e.g. as .pdf file or as Power Point presentation). For more information, contact and technical support on the electronic presentation use this link: technical support
Normal travel expenses within Europe will be covered by IPP. In addition, speakers are offered a honorarium of € 150. Travel arrangements will normally be made by the speaker.
