IPP Garching



Max-Planck-Institut für Plasmaphysik was founded in 1960 in Garching. Here it has some 750 members of staff. The ASDEX Upgrade tokamak, Germanies biggest fusion device, is operated here. Presently, in Garching are the Scientific Divisions Tokamak Scenario Development, Tokamak Edge and Divertor Physics, Tokamak Theory, Technology, and Materials Research.

Furthermore, IPP hosts the European Fusion Development Agreement ( EFDA) Close Support Unit, the European reactor study group
