Wendelstein 7-X Operations

The division is responsible for the operation of Wendelstein 7-X

Wendelstein 7-X started operation end of 2015. The division organizes the technical operation of Wendelstein 7-X. This includes the technical operation of the stellarator and the associated components: superconducting magnet system, normal conducting coil systems, cryo supply for coils and cryopumps, vacuum systems, gas supply, glow discharge, instrumentation of the machine as well as the accompanying modelling of the mechanical and electro-mechanical loads of the device.

In addition, a working group is responsible for the control system of the experiment and the recording and storage of all measurement data as well as the general IT for the Greifswald site and electronics development.
