  • Speaker: Dr. Eli Viezzer
  • PhD and Postdoc in MPI for Plasma Physics in Garching, now ERC Grant, Universidad de Sevilla
  • Location: Zoom
  • Room: For zoom details write an email to careercenter@ipp.mpg.de
  • Host: Career Center
  • Contact: careercenter@ipp.mpg.de
For the Career Dialogue we invite people with different backgrounds who will initially tell about themselves, their career or their networks and will then answer your questions and engage in a dialogue with you. The purpose of the Career Dialogue is to provide insight into different career paths, to bring you in contact with people outside IPP and to enhance our networks in all directions - science, industry, entrepreneurship, science management.

Eleonora Viezzer studied physics at the Leopold Franzens University Innsbruck (Austria) and Ludwig Maximilian University Munich (Germany), where she obtained a diploma in Physics in Nov. 2009. Afterwards she started her PhD “Radial electric field studies in the plasma edge of ASDEX Upgrade” at the Max Planck Institute for Plasma Physics (IPP) in Garching under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Hartmut Zohm and PD Dr. Thomas Pütterich. She received her PhD in natural sciences in February 2013. She continued to work at IPP as postdoctoral researcher and in December 2013 she obtained a EUROfusion Researcher Fellowship, which she carried out at IPP from 2014-2015. In 2016, she entered the world of academia and moved to the University of Seville with a Spanish Juan de la Cierva grant which enabled her a tenure track position. She was also granted with a European Marie Sklodowska Curie grant, which she carried out from 2017 to 2019 at the University of Seville. In 2019 she was appointed as Associate Professor at the University of Seville and holds a prestigious ERC Starting Grant (2019-2024).

Her research lines include plasma transport, edge physics and MHD stability and the development of new diagnostic techniques for magnetically confined fusion plasmas.
