The Max Planck Institute for Plasma Physics in Garching offers within the division 'Numerical Methods of Plasma Physics' (NMPP) a position for a postdoctoral software engineer or physicist (m/f/div).
The work will be performed within the EUROfusion-project E-TASC (Theory and Advanced Simulation Coordination).
Your tasks
- Development and optimization of numerical and data-intensive computer applications on high-performance computers
- Development of performance portable software on HPC hardware including GPUs
- Training of scientists on how to improve their code design and software skills in HPC
- Publication and communication of training material
Your profile
- PhD in computational sciences or physics
- Profound experience in the design of large scientific codes and programming techniques
- Experience in good software engineering practices (version control, regression/unit testing, continuous integration, documentation tools, collaboration tools etc.)
- Full proficiency in high level programming languages like e.g. C++ and Fortran 2008
- Experience in code development on massively parallel computers with MPI (Message Passing Interface) and OpenMP
- A logical approach to problem solving, good time management, and task prioritization skills
- Good command of the English language, written and spoken
