The registered association “IPP-Sozialwerk e.V.” was founded in 1969 at the Max Planck Institute for Plasma Physics in Garching. It is active in the social field for the benefit of its members and their families.

Although the IPP-Sozialwerk primarily offers the membership to employees of the Max Planck Institute for Plasma Physics, employees of the Max Planck Society and affiliated institutes can also become members.

The purpose of the association is to provide additional social and cultural support for the employees of the IPP and their family members, complementing the measures taken by the institute and the social insurance institutions. This includes various offers at both sites, Garching near Munich and Greifswald as well as vacation properties for rent.

If a regular member of the IPP Sozialwerk gets into financial difficulties without fault of its own, he/she can apply informally for assistance , a regular member of the IPP Sozialwerk can apply informally to the Board for assistance, provided that all other possibilities of solving the problem/help/support have been exhausted beforehand. The board makes its decision after a thorough examination of the case.

With a membership (only 2,- € /month - externals 3,- €/month) YOU COULD HELP US to support (socially weak) colleagues with lower income or in emergencies and furthermore rent the HOLIDAY APARTMENTS and use the OFFERS of the SOZIALWERK together with family and friends at low rates.
