The COMPASS Upgrade tokamak is a new medium-sized, high-field tokamak (Bt = 5 T, Ip = 2 MA) currently under construction in Prague, Czech Republic.
This presentation will guide the audience through the detailed engineering design of the device, focusing on solutions to critical technological challenges such as high-field magnetic coils and the 500 °C hot-wall vacuum vessel. We will present the current construction status, including progress in the manufacturing and installation of major systems.
The talk aims not only to provide a progress overview, but also to share concrete lessons learned from managing a complex scientific and technological endeavour, ranging from various technological development sub-projects to the coordination of international procurements under public budget regulations.
