IPP Greifswald Branch



The Branch Institute of IPP at Greifswald was founded in 1994. Here the fusion experiment Wendelstein 7-X is being investigated. IPP Greifswald has some 450 members of staff.

The following scientific divisions are currently operating within the IPP Branch Institute Greifswald: Stellarator Heating and Optimisation, Stellarator Dynamics and Transport, Stellarator Theory, and the independent Research Group Stellarator Reactor Studies.

A cooperation agreement on fusion-oriented plasma physics is connecting IPP with the Department of Physics of University of Greifswald. Two scientific directors of IPP are also appointed as professors at the University of Greifswald and one as professer at the Technical University of Berlin.
