
Travel
Fraueninsel (Frauenwörth) on Lake Chiemsee is car-free and can only be reached by boat. The main landing stages are Prien/Stock or Gstadt.
The journey with the boat takes approx. 25–30 minutes from Prien and less than 10 minutes from Gstadt. The Chiemsee boat service timetable can be found here. Tickets are available at the pier.
To reach the boats:
1) By train: Prien am Chiemsee is a stop of all local trains on the route between Munich and Salzburg.
The train ride with the local train Re5 from München Ost takes about 45 minutes and runs roughly hourly. Click here (https://www.mvg.de/verbindungen.html#) for the timetable. The ticket is € 22.20 and available from vending machines at the platform.
From and to Munich Airport, take the local train S8 to München Ost. It departs every 20 minutes. The total trip time is then 90 min. The ticket price stays € 22.20.
From Prien station, you have two options. On foot (approx. 20-minute walk) or if you have more time by the historic Chiemsee Railway to Prien-Stock harbour.

2) By car: Chiemsee is close to the motorway A8 Munich-Salzburg. Take the Bernau exit, continue towards Prien/Rimsting to Gstadt. There are plenty of paid parking spaces available in a few minutes walking distance from the pier such as the ‚‘ that offer a 3-day ticket for € 9,- (cash, no credit card!). Upon arrival with the ship on the main pier continue either straight onwards until you reach the souvenir shop ‚Klosterladen‘. Registration is then to the left. The Restaurant ‚Klosterwirt‘ where we have all our meals is the first building next to the pier on the left.
