Accommodation

Garching has an excellent infrastructure and direct subway connection (subway line U6, 2 minutes) to the Max Planck Institute for Plasma Physics. The same subway line directly connects to Munich (25 minutes from city center Marienplatz to IPP). Participants are kindly requested to make their own reservations and are responsible for their own room charges. Reservations can be made by telephone or online. Below a list of hotels in Garching is provided. (Of course hotels in Munich are also a possible choice.) Since the hotel situation may be tight during summer time early booking is strongly encouraged.

Since Garching is a relatively small town all the hotels cited on the Web are close to the center of Garching. The walking distance to the conference location from downtown Garching is about 25-35 minutes. In addition the subway line U6 connects Garching downtown and Garching-Hochbrück with the research institutes (stop Garching-Forschungszentrum; the southern (rear) exit is directly in front of the IPP main gate). Nevertheless, the walk to the conference location is quite nice and is recommended for recreation.
