19th European Fusion Physics Workshop (19th EFPW)
5 – 7 December 2011 in Heringsdorf (Usedom)
The 19th European Fusion Physics Workshop (EFPW19) will take place 5 – 7 December 2011 at the “Maritim Hotel Kaiserhof Heringsdorf” in Heringsdorf on the island of Usedom, Germany, and it is hosted by the Association EURATOM Max-Planck-Institut für Plasmaphysik.
The title of this year’s workshop is “3D effects in Fusion Plasmas”.
The STAC has agreed on the following session topics and proposed Session Chairs:
- Effect of 3D external magnetic perturbations on Tokamak Plasmas
Peter de Vries (FOM/JET) - 3D Physics of Stellarators and Reversed field pinches and application to Tokamaks
Wilfred Cooper (CRPP) - ELM mitigation with Resonant Magnetic Perturbations
Andy Kirk (CCFE) - 3D effects on Divertor, Scrape of Layer and Plasma Wall interaction
Oliver Schmitz (FZJ) - 3D aspects of Disruptions
Tünde Fülöp (VR)
A detailed program will be made available at a later date.
Participants should plan to arrive during the afternoon/evening of Sunday, 4 December 2011.
The workshop is scheduled to finish around lunchtime on Wednesday, 7 December 2011.
An excursion will be offered to visit the Wendelstein 7-X experiment at the Max-Planck-Institut für Plasmaphysik in Greifswald. Please bear in mind that the participants of this excursion do not return to Heringsdorf and will be accommodated in Greifswald to depart on Thursday, 8 December 2011.
Participants will be nominated by their Research units and are kindly asked to register online until 4 November 2011 at the latest.
