25. Career Dialogue "Dr. Christopher Albert, TU Graz"

Career Dialogue

  • Date: Nov 14, 2024
  • Time: 03:30 PM - 04:30 PM (Local Time Germany)
  • Speaker: Dr. Christopher Albert
  • Christopher Albert earned his doctorate in physics from Graz University of Technology (TU Graz) in 2017, focusing on Hamiltonian methods for effects of non-axisymmetric perturbations in fusion plasmas. From 2018 to 2021 he was working as a post-doc in an interdisciplinary project at the Max Planck Institute for Plasma Physics. Subsequently, he returned to TU Graz for a tenure track professorship in 2021, heading the plasma physics group there. Apart from research in plasma physics, Dr. Albert applied his expertise in acoustics as a Junior Researcher at Virtual Vehicle Research GmbH between 2012 and 2014 and at Dr. Pfeiler GmbH Civil Engineering, where he worked on engineering acoustics and software development for measurement databases. The career dialogue will focus on a critical assessment on research across disciplines, the importance of building a professional network to promote scientific visibility, and how ideas and opportunities pop up by a combination of the right setting and sheer luck.

For the Career Dialogue we invite people with different backgrounds who will initially tell about themselves, their career or their networks and will then answer your questions and engage in a dialogue with you. The purpose of the Career Dialogue is to provide insight into different career paths, to bring you in contact with people outside IPP and to enhance our networks in all directions - science, industry, entrepreneurship, science management.
