Czech Physical Society honours Friedrich Wagner / Physics Medal First Class

March 18, 2013

The Czech Physical Society has honoured Professor Dr. Friedrich Wagner, former Director at Max Planck Institute of Plasma Physics (IPP), for his fundamental contributions to experimental plasma physics and his outstanding achievements as head of the European Physical Society from 2007 till 2009. The Vice-President of the Czech Physical Society, Dr. Jaroslav Dittrich, presented the Physics Medal First Class in Prague on 7 March.

The ceremony took place at Prague Institute of Technology, where Professor Wagner gave a talk on the particulars of future energy supply. Max Planck Institute for Plasma Physics at Garching and Greifswald is investigating the physical principles of a fusion power plant, which, like the sun, is to derive energy from fusion of light atomic nuclei.
