 Current events in English

The event program for the second half of 2020 is now available on our website. Together with our trainers, we have developed flexible solutions. If the current infection rate stays as it is, we will again offer face-to-face events from the end of June. Otherwise, we will stick to the online formats.

Unfortunately, we had to completely postpone the public lecture series Studium universale to the summer semester 2021. However, we are pleased that all lecturers have agreed to hold their lectures next year. The “Nacht der Wissenschaft” and the science slam we planned was also canceled.

26. Juni: Should I stay of should I go? Career Paths in- and outside Academia
This seminar is designed to reflect on one's own competences and to recognize one's own 'market value', to learn about the options and requirements for a university career and alternative career paths outside the university and to create your own career through conviction, and not by feeling a lack of perspective. It is a face-to-face event. Please note the hygiene plan of the University of Greifswald!

2. - 3. Juni: Academic Writing: How to Create Good Texts
In this workshop the process of academic writing is highlighted from the first idea through the structuring and formation of the text to its completion. It is probably a face-to-face event. Please note the hygiene plan of the University of Greifswald!

To register for courses, please use our online-course registration.

Current announcements

Post Doctoral Program - Make Our Planet Great Again
The MOPGA program finances research stays in France in the field of climate and the environment. This MOPGA call particularly aims at young researchers in Germany who have completed their doctorate in the past five years. The application requires the formal support of a French host institution, which agrees to take over the stay if successful. The funding amounts to € 50,000 for 12 months and may be made available to the host institution, which then concludes a post-doc contract with the award winner.

Mining University St. Petersburg, Int. Forum-Contest of Students and Young Researchers
The Forum will be held on June 17-19, 2020 in a fundamentally new video conference format using the Cisco WebEx. The best lecturers will be selected by an expert jury (up to 10 award winners in each of the 10 sessions). The award winners receive a scholarship from the International UNESCO Competence Center of the St. Petersburg Mining University for a 7-10 day stay in Russia in 2021. The scholarship covers all costs associated with the stay, including travel expenses, accommodation and meals. The stay includes a visit to St. Petersburg and the St. Petersburg Mining University. It is also planned to visit a company of your choice in one of the Russian regions. Within Germany you may contact Dr. Felix Baitalow, TU Bergkademie Freiberg (felix.baitalow@iec.tu-freiberg.de).

International Colloquium “Between Rite and Myth: Carneval in European Culture”
The colloquium is organized by PhD students from the international graduate school “European Founding Myths in Literature, Art and Music” and will take place in Florence on November 16 and 17, 2020. All disciplines in the humanities are expressly requested, contributions must be submitted in German, Italian or French.
