Open-door Day at Max Planck Institute for Plasma Physics in Greifswald on 20 October 2012

October 10, 2012

Construction of the Wendelstein 7 X fusion device is progressing: The core of the device now appears in its final form. At the Open door Day on Saturday, 20 October 2012, from 10 a.m. till 5 p.m. visitors to Max Planck Institute for Plasma Physics at Greifswald can witness this progress for themselves.

The objective with Wendelstein 7 X, the world’s largest and most modern device of its kind, is to find a new energy source favourable to the environment, viz. nuclear fusion. The aim is to build a power plant that, like the sun, derive energy from fusion of atomic nuclei. You can witness the research at IPP Greifswald at close quarters on guided tours, in films, at experiments and in talks ... more >>
