For the Career Dialogue we invite people with different backgrounds who will initially tell about themselves, their career or their networks and will then answer your questions and engage in a dialogue with you. The purpose of the Career Dialogue is to provide insight into different career paths, to bring you in contact with people outside IPP and to enhance our networks in all directions - science, industry, entrepreneurship, science management.

After Karla finished her PhD in IPP (2012) she returned to Chile and worked in the University of Antofagasta as an Assistant Lecturer/Lab Assistant for different undergraduate careers (agronomy, health-related careers, engineering, etc.). She worked there until 2016. In 2017 Karla worked as a high school teacher in Antofagasta (an experience I enjoyed immensely). From 2017 until 2018 she worked as a researcher in CCHEN (Comisión Chilena de Energía Nuclear) in Santiago, by creating simulations of a plasma focus used to create copper nanoparticles. In 2019 she worked at another high school in Santiago. In 2020 Karla decided (before the pandemic) that she wanted to study pedagogy to be a high school teacher. It was a special program for graduates that took one year (in a Chilean University) and finished at the beginning of 2021. In 2021 she worked as a high school teacher in another school in Santiago. Finally, in her present job, she has been working since January 2022 as a Machine Learning Engineer in a company called SOVOS. Karla works in a division that takes care of biometric identification. She is working on a project that tries to find frauds in bank transactions using Machine Learning.
